Burçin Açan
1991 German High School, 1995 BSc in ITU Electronics&Telecom Engineering,
1997 Boğaziçi University MBA, 1998 MSc in ITU Electronics&Telecom Engineering.
He started his career in 1999 in Nortel Networks as an optical and wireless Product
Manager. After being the country manager for Bangladesh market, he moved on to
Turkcell where he served as a corporate project manager, business development
manager and financial services department manager. In this position he built the first
mobile payment service in Turkey and worlds first SIM based NFC mobile payment
project. After setting up the M2M business line in Turkcell he launched first M2M
platform and first M2M SIM card in Turkey. Then he joined Turk Telekom, where he
worked as the cross sector business development group manager. In this position he
created Turkey’s first integrated Smart City Platform, while working on subjects like
IoT and Big Data. In his current position he helps digitalizing Zorlu Energy by setting
up new digital platforms, products, channels and processes. Main working areas are
Electric Vehicles, Charging Stations, Energy Storage Systems, Home Energy
Management Systems, Smart Cities and Distributed Energy Generation. He also led
the R&D efforts including three H2020 projects.
