Megawatt Charging Technology Debuts in Turkey

The Electric Future of Heavy-Duty Transport Takes Shape in Istanbul

World’s leading electric vehicle charging exhibition, EV Charge Show, is set to host a groundbreaking development in commercial transportation. Megawatt charging systems will be showcased for the first time in a dedicated exhibition area during the event, taking place from 12–14 November 2025 at Istanbul Expo Center.

With this new technology, charging times for large battery-powered vehicles such as electric trucks, buses, and construction equipment are significantly reduced. These next-generation chargers, offering 1 megawatt (MW) and above, make it possible to charge a vehicle in just minutes instead of hours.

Accelerating the Electrification of Commercial Fleets

Megawatt charging marks a major leap forward in EV infrastructure. It enables the rapid and efficient charging of electric vehicles, particularly in fleet operations. As a result, electric buses and trucks can operate continuously without long downtimes.

Compared to internal combustion engine vehicles, electric vehicles (EVs) are more environmentally friendly and offer lower operating costs. However, charging time has been a key barrier for heavy-duty EV adoption until now. Megawatt charging systems address this challenge by delivering ultra-fast power to high-capacity batteries.

A First in World: Dedicated “Megawatt Charging Exhibition Area”

The Megawatt Charging Special Exhibition Area, to be introduced for the first time at EV Charge Show 2025, will offer a forward-looking glimpse into the future of commercial transport. Visitors to this area will experience the following innovations:

  • - High-power DC megawatt chargers

  • - MCS-compliant connectors and liquid-cooled cables

  • - High-capacity energy storage systems

  • - Charging operation simulation and management software

  • - Live technical presentations by industry experts

Over 5,000 professionals are expected to visit this dedicated space, including fleet managers, OEMs, logistics operators, and energy companies, all seeking to explore the latest charging solutions up close.

“This Zone Will Be the Starting Point of Transformation”

Ahmet Aslantürk, Event Director of EV Charge Show, stated:

“The Megawatt Charging Area we’re introducing this year is more than just an exhibition it’s a gateway to the green transformation of electric transportation in Turkey. Long range, short charging times, and high performance are no longer a dream for the logistics industry.”

What Are Megawatt Charging Systems and How Do They Work?

As the name implies, megawatt charging systems deliver power at 1 MW or more directly to electric vehicle batteries, enabling extremely fast energy transfer. This technology is especially effective for large electric vehicles using lithium-ion battery systems.

The chargers supply energy directly to the battery through the electric motor, and thanks to high current capacity, the entire process is completed in a fraction of the usual time.

With the expansion of charging station networks, megawatt charging is expected to become the new standard for fast-charging infrastructure.

A Unique Opportunity for Industry Stakeholders

Companies providing hardware, software, energy storage or connectivity solutions for megawatt charging systems will find this special exhibition area a valuable platform to connect directly with their target audience. Business partnerships formed here are expected to make a lasting impact in the sector.
